Of course the first to list is the closest to home & the cheapest. Rocklands has a small play area
of a swing, slide and climbing frame. We also have a football net for the footie fans
2. Flamingo Land
For family fun and thrills, you won't find better than Flamingo Land Theme Park & Zoo.Just a 10 min drive
from Rocklands Lodges, the park offers some of the finest Theme park ride throughout Europe. There is also
a captivating programme of regular free shows, which guarantees that the fun never stops. Excitement and
adventure for the youngest guests is also assured by a fantastic collection of junior coasters, carousels and fun slides, plus indoor and outdoor soft play areas too!
4. The Coast of Scarborough
A wonderful place to take the little ones to tire them out. You have two bays you can take them too, The North & South Bay. South Bay is where you will find the amusements, fairground rides restaurants, & gift shops.
A great place to go is Peasholm Park in the North Bay
which is open all year round. This park is built around a lake and you can hire pedal boats, some with a dragons head, and rowing boats. The summer months will sometimes see brass bands playing in the park.

3. The Coast of Whitby
Rocklands is lucky enough to stand between the seaside coasts of Whitby & Scarbrough. Whitby beach, especially in the warmer weather is a a magnet for families whether for bathing, suncastle building or strolling. Then afterwards maybe an ice-cream or refreashment in one of the many cafes. Any spare change? The there are amusement aracades and bingo
Children can enjoy the bumper boats, crazy golf, trampolining, the sports centre & swimming pool, trips to the sea or handlining for crabs on kiddies corner.
In the summer months there are children's rides & roundabouts at the beginning of the West Pier. There are also 199 steps to climb & the Dracula experince to explore
5. Alpmare Waterpark Scarborough
All the way from the Alps, Alpamare Scarborough is a waterpark like no other.
If you love adventure, it’s time to experience the biggest, the fastest, the wettest, the warmest, the cleanest,
the waviest, the newest, the funnest, the most unlike-any-waterpark-you’ve-seen before waterpark.

For the child that likes steam trains, then Pickering is the place to come. The famous North Yorkshire Moors Railway was used in the original Harry Potter film and you can ride the train to Whitby in the Summer Months and in December you can meet Santa on his special train journey.
Scarbrough also has a small railway at the North Bay which will take you through some of the most wonderful views of Scarbrough.
7. Dalby Forest
For the Adrenaline Junkies. You’ll be hard pushed to find a better location than Dalby Forest where you’ll discover high-wire forest adventures by ‘Go Ape’. Or you can go mountain biking through the forest, choosing from a selection of designated routes to match your skill level, or thirst for excitement. This was the place for the Mountain Bike World Cup 2 years running.

Go Ape’s the UK’s number one forest adventure. Days out with us are about living life a little more adventurously, having fun with friends and family and getting in touch with your inner Tarzan (he’s in there, we promise!)
The classic and original Go Ape experience is our 2 – 3 hour Tree Top Adventure. We’ll brief you for safety before you fly down our zip-wires, leap off our Tarzan Swing and tackle our crossings whilst enjoying some of Britain’s most breathtaking scenery.
You can now also experience Segway. You can go off exploring the forest on the latest in green technology – a self-balancing electric segway.
Tree Top Junior is the latest adventure to join the Go Ape family tree. Release your little monkeys onto a Go Ape course designed for them. No one loves adventure more than kids!
b) Grandfather Oak and the Curious Forest
Discover Grandfather Oak and the Curious Forest in the new Wildplay area. The theme of the new Dalby Forest play area is 'Life in the Forest', and will be explored through stories about Grandfather Oak and a range of tree characters who will interpret forestry, as well as the uses of trees.
c) Adderstone Field Play Area
Exciting adventure play equipment for children to enjoy, the large open field is the ideal place to BBQ or play ball games.
8. A little bit of history at Eden Camp.
10 Mins drive from Rocklands and located on the outskirts of the market town of Malton in North Yorkshire, Eden Camp is a multi-award winning Modern History Theme Museum housed within the grounds of an original World War Two prisoner of war camp. It was developed into a museum by local businessman Stan Johnson to stand as a tribute to all people, civilian and military, who endured hardship throughout World War Two.
Today, Eden Camp has people of all ages visiting from around the world to see the story of World War Two re-created using sights, sounds, smells and moving figures to create a unique atmosphere that makes it feel like you travelled back in time to wartime Britain.
9. Treasure Hunt in Pickering
Fancy doing something a little different. Spending quality time together on a family walk or having a fun day out with friends are what our cycling, driving and walking Trails are all about. Treasure Trails get you outside, exploring in the fresh air and having fun solving a mystery.
