Every year Pickering is transported back to the 1940's to commemorate all those who worked on the railways during the Second World War. The event starts at noon on Friday when the flag is raised in Pickering; from then on many visitors arrive in period costume. Saturday sees processions in the High St, military vehicles, singers, bands and 40's style evening dances. The railway stations are taken over with Levisham becoming occupied France and Goathland defended by The Home Guard. It is a popular and fun event which is growing each year. Be sure to book your lodge soon.
